Bookmap is an order-flow and liquidity-visualization platform, not a general charting tool and not a broker: its core interface is a real-time heatmap of order-book depth and executed volume, and any live trade it places is routed through a separately connected brokerage account.

What Bookmap is

Bookmap’s central product is a liquidity heatmap that renders the order book as a live, scrolling depth map, paired with volume bubbles that mark where and how much has actually traded at each price. That combination is aimed at showing order-flow and market-microstructure activity — where large orders are sitting, where volume is transacting, how liquidity is shifting — rather than replacing a trader’s existing charting setup. Bookmap doesn’t hold customer funds or act as a brokerage itself; market data and trade execution both come from separately connected providers and brokers.

Where Bookmap stands out

The heatmap and volume-bubble combination is Bookmap’s real differentiator: it surfaces order-book depth and executed-volume detail that a candlestick chart simply doesn’t display, regardless of how many indicators are layered on top of it. Record & Replay lets a trader step back through a session tick-by-tick rather than only viewing it live, and a marketplace of indicators and add-ons extends the base heatmap with tools like footprint views and cumulative volume delta. Bookmap’s package comparison lists cumulative volume delta on every tier, including the free Digital tier, while the Footprint and DOM Pro add-ons are included only on the top Global Plus tier. A free Digital tier — real-time crypto data plus delayed stock and futures data, limited to one symbol at a time — makes it possible to explore the core concept before paying anything.

How this differs from conventional charting

A candlestick chart summarizes price action after the fact: open, high, low, close, and volume for a fixed interval. Bookmap’s heatmap instead shows the order book itself evolving in real time — resting liquidity building and pulling away at specific price levels, and volume printing as it actually trades, updated continuously rather than bucketed into bars. That’s a different kind of information, aimed at traders who want to read order-flow and liquidity behavior directly, not a claim that it’s a more accurate or more profitable way to trade than chart-based analysis. TradingView, by comparison, is built around general-purpose charting, indicators, and strategy scripting across a broad range of markets — a different layer of the workflow than order-book depth visualization, and the two can plausibly sit alongside each other rather than substitute for one another.

Data and broker connectivity

Bookmap explicitly separates data from execution: a package subscription on its own doesn’t include market data or brokerage services. For futures, data can be sourced from Rithmic, dxFeed, CQG Continuum, or Bookmap’s own BookmapData product (covering CME, CBOT, NYMEX, and COMEX); for stocks, from BookmapData Nasdaq or dxFeed; for crypto, Bookmap describes free connectivity to a number of exchanges. Bookmap’s own connectivity documentation enumerates only stocks, futures, and crypto as connectable asset classes — forex isn’t listed there, and neither is options, so neither should be assumed to be supported based on this documentation.

Bookmap can also connect to NinjaTrader 7 and 8, but its own knowledge base labels this connection “not recommended.” Market data arrives from a third-party vendor into NinjaTrader and is then passed on to Bookmap, and Bookmap recommends connecting directly to the data provider instead for better stability and data quality. For NinjaTrader 8, Bookmap documents version 7.3 or higher, a NinjaTrader plugin installed in Bookmap, and a Bookmap NinjaScript imported into NinjaTrader. Bookmap’s connectivity table lists Global as the minimum license for the NinjaTrader connection and trading as available through it, while noting that Global Plus is required to trade futures or stocks. Depth is the main catch: Bookmap says it can work with Level 1 data but needs Level 2 data to show full market depth (up to 10 levels), that most NinjaTrader market data feeds don’t contain full depth (Rithmic does, without MBO data), and that it doesn’t guarantee, support, or update the integration. The connection isn’t available on macOS.

Execution: what happens when you place a trade

Bookmap supports one-click order placement, modification, and cancellation directly from the chart or DOM, but the order itself is routed to and filled by a separately connected, funded brokerage account — Bookmap’s own knowledge base names Rithmic, Tradovate, CQG, Interactive Brokers, TradeStation, and GAIN Futures among the connections that support this “cross-trading” execution path. Bookmap’s commercial pricing pages indicate this live-execution capability sits on the top Global Plus tier; a data-only connection, or a lower tier, provides visualization without the ability to route an order. A separate Trading Simulator add-on also exists for practicing without a live funded connection.

Pricing — and why the subscription isn’t the whole cost

Bookmap’s official pricing page lists four tiers. Digital is free, with real-time crypto data and delayed stock/futures data, limited to viewing one symbol at a time. Digital Plus is $19/month (or $16/month billed yearly); Global is $49/month ($39/month billed yearly, or $990 as a lifetime license); and Global Plus — the tier required for live execution — is $99/month ($79/month billed yearly, or $1,990 lifetime). The yearly-billing figures are the monthly-equivalent price displayed under annual billing, not a separate lower plan.

The more important number for budgeting, though, is what sits outside that subscription: Bookmap’s pricing page states plainly that real-time market data for stocks and futures is not included in any package price. Illustrative figures shown on that page include Bookmap’s own BookmapData at roughly $34–79/month, dxFeed futures data at around $37/month per exchange, dxFeed US equities data in the $34–119/month range, and Rithmic data around $40–101/month — exact cost depends entirely on which exchange, provider, and connection a trader selects, so these are examples of the range, not a universal price. Crypto data connectivity was described as free across a number of exchanges. In practice, a trader’s real all-in monthly cost for live futures or stock data is the Bookmap subscription plus a separate data-provider bill, not the subscription price alone.

Where Bookmap falls short

The split-cost structure above is the most consequential limitation: the headline subscription price understates what real-time futures or stock data actually costs to run. Execution is also more restrictive than it might first appear — it’s gated to the Global Plus tier and to a specific, documented list of broker connections, so a trader on an unsupported broker gets visualization only. Symbol-viewing capacity scales with tier, starting at a single symbol on the free plan. Forex isn’t a supported market in Bookmap’s own connectivity documentation, and that same documentation is silent on options, leaving options support an open question rather than a confirmed yes or no. Bookmap’s own system-requirements page describes Linux support as “limited,” without further detail on what’s actually supported there.

Bookmap for futures and prop-firm traders

Futures is Bookmap’s most directly built-out market, with several data provider options and a documented cross-trading path through brokers like Rithmic, Tradovate, and Interactive Brokers. Separately, Bookmap has published partner pages for at least two proprietary trading firms — TradeDay and EdgeProp — each describing a specific, conditioned arrangement rather than a general claim of prop-firm compatibility: TradeDay documents Bookmap access as part of its funded futures accounts (following its evaluation process) via Rithmic credentials, while EdgeProp documents Bookmap access specifically during its futures evaluation program, also via Rithmic. Neither page establishes that Bookmap works with prop firms generally, and a trader evaluating a different firm should confirm directly with that firm whether connecting third-party software like Bookmap is permitted under its current rules.

Who Bookmap is best for

Bookmap fits traders — most concretely futures traders, with documented but secondary support for stocks and crypto — who want to read order-book liquidity and executed volume directly as part of their analysis, and who are willing to set up (and pay for) the underlying market data or broker connection that Bookmap itself doesn’t include. It’s also a relevant option for a trader evaluating or funded at TradeDay or EdgeProp specifically, given each firm’s documented Bookmap arrangement.

Who should look elsewhere

Traders whose core need is general charting, a broad indicator library, or cross-asset technical analysis are better served by a charting-first product — Bookmap’s heatmap is a different, narrower kind of tool, not a superset of conventional charting. Forex traders should look elsewhere entirely, since forex isn’t part of Bookmap’s documented connectivity. And any trader unwilling to budget for a separate real-time data subscription, or to confirm their broker’s execution support before relying on it, should weigh that friction before committing to a paid tier.
